Here is our newest project.  It is a 1978 Jeep j10 Honcho officially dubbed "The Graboid" in honor of the truck used in the movie tremors.

UPDATE

The motor swap has begun!!  Click here for the details.

Coil Spring Front Suspension is Complete

As it sits it has an AMC 360 ci motor and an AMC th400 Transmission running through a quadratrac transfer case.  It is lifted with an estimated 13" suspension lift in the front and back, and equipped with 35x16x15 Swamper Bogger tires.

We have big plans for the Graboid, including a 6.0L "LS1" power plant and updated drivetrain.  Keep checking back for updates.

It turns out that the th400 that was in the truck was total junk.  After a brief drive it lost all forward gears, we pulled it out and rebuilt it.  It seems that someone tried to rebuild it before and didn't put it back together correctly.  I found a local jeep guy selling a built AMC th400 for $150.  After installing it, everything worked great!

The boggers were done so they were replaced with some 35x12.5x15 Dunlop Mud Rovers.  The smaller width tires make it alot more streetable.

The interior needed some attention.  I stripped everything out and patched the floor panels.  I then coated the whole thing with some roll on bedliner, and cut a carpet to fit.

As if the truck didn't stand out enough, we added some stripes and a flatbed

So what do you do with a truck this big?

After driving this thing around for a few months it became painfully obvious that the block lift on the front end had to be replaced with something safer.

I decided to go with a coil sprung set up.
